The inventory of digital tools in the field of chemical production showed a broad variety in approaches as well as applications. During the workshop it became very clear that there is great risk involved when a corporate leader chooses to dismiss this highly-substantiated megatrend, either by their missing out on profitable income streams, or even endangering the future of their company. The collaboration with external partners, such as startups, must be regarded as existential in order to secure access to their innovations.
