Avoiding the waste status with recycling

In its latest brochure “REACH and Recycling“ the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) attends especially to the subject of recycling.

In the just released REACH*-Info 9 of BAuA among other things the aspect of waste prevention is taken up: the status of waste can be avoided, if the chemicals, which have been used for the production of substances, will be reused in the production process, after certain treatment/preparation.

Avoiding the waste status means on the one hand a classification of waste prevention in terms of the European directive 2008/98/EC on waste (pdf) and on the other hand a registration according to REACH is no longer necessary.
In this context – once again – the advantages of recycling chemicals are clearly evident.

The complete brochure (German only) can be found here.
